Hole No.6: THE PEAKS

Like Mountain View, The Peaks once allowed glorious sights of distant mountains for those willing to lift their heads (at the right time of course). The Peaks is the longest hole from the blue, white, and yellow tees but shorter that Rangatira from the black tees. At the time of designing the course it
was felt that no bunkers were needed for such distances No.6 hole has always been long, but in
the 1970’s with only a few trees it must have looked even longer. It was decided after much ‘discussion to plant trees to the left and short of the gully and a bunker was added at the same time.
The gully in front of the Men’s Tee is crossed using the Bridge which is a Memorial to Gavin and Marge Paterson’s son Chris, who represented Coringa for a numbers of years at Woodward Cup level.
